Shopping up a storm: Reese Witherspoon out and about in Paris picked up some goodies at the Chanel store

Paris is the perfect place for a romantic weekend. That is, unless you are looking for your wedding dress.

Reese Witherspoon left her fiancé Jim Toth at home as she visited the city of love's most upmarket boutiques.

The Oscar winning actress was spotted dropping by not just one, but four of the major fashion houses for appointments.

Accompanied by an assistant, Reese, 34, spent hours in each location.

Dressed all in black, the Legally Blonde star started her day with an 11am appointment at the Louis Vuitton International headquarters - a corporate office building that houses the management for brands such as Givenchy and Marc Jacobs.

After leaving the meeting toting a Louis Vuitton purchase Reese and her companion headed to a 1pm engagement at the fashion house Lanvin.

At 3.30pm she headed to Chanel, where she left laid down with new purchases before heading to the new headquarters of Giambattista Valli at 5.30pm.

Reese announced last month that she is engaged to marry agent Toth.

Reese, who won an Oscar for her role in Walk The Line, began dating Jim, 40, a talent agent at Creative Arts Agency, in January 2010.

It will be the second marriage for the How Do You Know star.

She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe for seven years but the couple divorced in 2007.

They have two children together Ava, 11 and Deacon, seven.

Toth got down on one knee over the Christmas period with a four carat Ashoka cut diamond and platinum ring worth an estimate $250,000.
