SBS’s Inkigayo is back once again, and this week’s show was full of amazing and fun performances from the top participating K-pop artists!
The ‘Take 7′ nominees were Seungri (“What Can I Do“), TVXQ (“Keep Your Head Down“), SECRET (“Shy Boy“), Gavy NJ (“Cup of Latte“), MBLAQ (“Stay“), Seungri (“VVIP“), and Dal Shabet (“Supa Dupa Diva“). Dal Shabet was not present today.
Having announced their disbandment last month, SeeYa embarked on the final journey of their promotions for their farewell album on this week’s MBC’s Music Core.
Since debuting in 2006, the group has experienced highs and lows, and the members will be going their separate paths on an amicable note, especially after Nam Gyuri rejoined the group for this final album promotion, having left earlier under acrimonious circumstances.
SeeYa’s original trio stated, “We pledged to not look sad in front of our fans, to not cry, to not look weak, and to confidently do our best until the very end before we went up on stage. We’ll be making this pledge for our remaining stage as well.”
They concluded, “It’s so sad thinking that this is SeeYa’s final goodbye stage, but we only want to show fans our smiling side. I honestly thought I’d cry, but I tried to remember the happy moments I had with SeeYa in order to avoid crying. We’ve rehearsed a lot to make sure we present the best possible stage, so please look forward to our goodbye stage.”
Earlier today, Pledis Entertainment released a mini music video for Orange Caramel’s ballad “Not Yet…”
Pledis Entertainment had tweeted a link to the video, and wrote:
“A song that shows off Orange Caramel’s outstanding singing ability! At the recording of ‘Still…’!“
In the video, the members of Orange Caramel are seen passionately singing to Raina’s lyrics. While these girls are best known for their bubble-gum pop songs such as “Magic Girl” and “A~ing,” this ballad track gives them an aura of maturity.

This week, girl group veterans Jewelry made a comeback with their two new members, while SeeYa began their goodbye promotions with former member, Nam Gyuri.
Other performers for the January 29th episode included TVXQ, SECRET, Seungri, MBLAQ, Park Jung Min, G.NA, Orange Caramel, Han Groo, Gavy NJ, INFINITE, Teen Top, Can, Piggy Dolls, Navi, Mighty Mouth, Beige, Dal Shabet, and Kan Jong Wook.

Having performed on M! Countdown yesterday, the four girls continued with their comeback stage on this week’s KBS’s Music Bank.

According to data compiled by the Philippines’ music retailers, Astrochart/Astrovision, 2NE1’s album “To Anyone“, became a #1 best-seller! Not only that, but their “First Mini-Album Re-package (CD+DVD)” also claimed the #2 spot on the chart.
The girls wanted to personally thank their Filipino Blackjacks for making this achievement possible, so they uploaded a video expressing their thanks in Tagalog.

A UCC (user created content) of Dalmatian’s lead vocalist, Jisu, attempting IU’s famous ‘three high notes’ has been circulating amongst netizens and video sharing sites.
The video was first uploaded on Dalmatian’s official fancafe and features both Jisu and Daniel giving their try at IU’s high notes. The video immediately earned 50,000 views and surprised both netizens and fans alike as Jisu managed to perform it in perfect falsettos.
Netizens commented, “This is my first time hearing a man perform those three high notes with a female key in such a clear voice,” “Even if it’s a falsetto, it was easy to listen to it. Seeing as how he didn’t shake at all, he must be really talented,” and “I got goose bumps. His voice is prettier than a girl’s.”
Meanwhile, Dalmatian will be making their comeback on February 14th with their first mini-album.
After School’s unit group, Orange Caramel, previously melted the hearts of fans with their cute “A~ing” comeback, and have followed up on today’s Music Core with their ballad, “Still…“!
“Still…” is written and composed by lead vocalist Raina and features lyrics from her own experience.
Orange Caramel said backstage before going on stage to perform “Still…”, “The song’s notes are very high. Because of that, we’ve been worried about singing it live.
Raina said, “We’ve been getting more vocal lessons because we worry about performing it live. The other members are practicing constantly too.”
Lizzy added, “Personally, I want to perform “A~ing” more. The song is so fun, so is its choreography. But during ‘Still…’, our faces and our choreography is very calm.”
Nana then said, “Our makeup is not dark this time around. It’s more of a natural look.”
They all concluded, “People will get to see a brand new side of us through this song. Please look forward to it and show us much love.”
The original trio of SeeYa, Nam Gyuri, Kim Yeonji, and Lee Boram, have come together for the release of their final goodbye album, “See You Again,” on January 21st!
Comprised of a total of 15 tracks, “See You Again” features two new tracks, titled “You’re So Cool to Me” and “The Last,” as well as 13 of their hit tracks, such as “Woman’s Scent,” “Heel,” “Shall We Get Married,” and “I Hate You.”
“You’re So Cool to Me” is the production of composers Kim Do-hoon and Lee Sangho, and is a medium tempo track with modern piano and string instrument sounds. “The Last” was composed by Jo Young Su, who is known for his extensive work with the girls in the past, and it’s a ballad that brings out the charms of SeeYa that fans have loved throughout the years.
The physical album will be released on January 25th and they will begin promotions on all music shows starting with M! Countdown on the 27th.
Guest-featuring Jay Park, everyone’s been raving about how delicious the new track is, how (like his video) it’s hot like fire.
Unfortunately, I have to disagree. In a very big way.
I listened to the first couple of bars, was intrigued by the build-up, and then promptly rage-quit the track 35 seconds in. The reason being was that I was so offended by a particular line that I could not fathom how the track could get any better.
J. Reyez boasts, “My name is J-Reyez, yup, the Korean guy // I represent the Asians, we all chinky-eyed.”
Seriously?
We all hate it when people of other cultures refer to us as ‘chinky-eyed’, or when they assume that we’re all Chinese and so greet us with “Ni hao“, or some ridiculous singsong nonsense.
So why would we ever introduce those words, that slur, into our music? Why would we give others the impression that it’s okay to refer to people of Asian descent as ‘chinky-eyed’ because an Asian hip hop artist made it seem like it was acceptable?
It’s straight-up ignorance. And honestly, even if the rest of the track was spectacular in its verbal eloquence, those lines were intellectually cheap, degrading, and full of self-loathing.
I don’t care to be represented by anyone who sees degradation as a source of personal hype. I know that we’re in an era now that seeks to reclaim certain words, but some words, some descriptions, should just stay buried.
I’m not hating on J. Reyez, I’m just disappointed with his decision to include those lyrics into his work. With that said, I know every artist has the one bad track, and I’m sincerely hoping that whatever J. Reyez releases in the future will be something that will truly allow his talents to shine.
Cassies have been ecstatic over the preview for next week’s episode of SBS’s “Running Man“, as it featured cuts of their favorite idols, TVXQ!
The episode centers around the musical, “The Phantom of the Opera“, as castmates have to run around an opera house to catch the two masked musicians. Not only are they masked, but they’re also cloaked as well, which heightens the masculine appeal of Yunho and Changmin.
It’ll be TVXQ’s first variety show appearance in two years. Fans can catch the episode through SBS on January 23rd at 5:20PM KST.
2NE1’s Minzy has joined the legion of “Secret Garden” fanatics, as seen through a recent post on her Me2day.
The maknae wrote on January 17th, “Ang ã… ã… ‘Secret Garden’ has come to an end~ Now who’s going to take manage my weekend nights at 9:55 PM!? ã… ã… “ She also added a photo of herself with photoshopped tears and continued, “You amazing drama! keke.”
Fans responded, “I’m sad too! My weekend~,” and “Secret Garden was so fun!“ Other fans left warm comments congratulating her birthday, which was on the 18th.

This time, Etude House decided to focus on Sandara Park to be their ‘Miss Tangerine’. Dara is seen bouncing around the room, trying on different orange-tinted products. She even delivers a dance snippet from 2NE1’s “Can’t Nobody” choreography!
